Q I am a right-handed shooter and right eye dominant. I shoot a Browning 525 Sporter which fits me fine, but I have problems with left-to-right crossers when shooting Skeet and Sporting. Anything from right-to-left I find quite easy, but left-to-right is very difficult. I seem to have to give left-to-right birds much more lead. Any advice please?
No more excuses
Q My friend is always making excuses when he shoots badly or misses targets. He says things like: “I’m tired, I didn’t sleep much last night” or “I am not in the mood to shoot today” or “I had a busy week at work and I am still thinking about it”. It is very annoying as I know he can shoot better than he is doing. What can I do to help him?

Shooting glasses – do they work?
We all wear eye protection for clay shooting – but will safety glasses really save your eyes if the worst happens? There’s only one way to find out, and we did. FieldsportsChannel were there to film our tests. Watch their video below – scroll along to 18:30 for the glasses test (or click here to view in a new window) – and read the full report in the November 2011 issue of Clay Shooting.

Shooter power: vote with your feet
Q A couple of weeks ago, I went to a new local shoot I’d seen advertised and paid to shoot a 50-bird Sporting. I have to say the targets were awful. The traps malfunctioned almost continually. It seemed like nearly every other clay came out either broken or on totally erratic trajectories. In the end, I lost count of the number of ‘no birds’ I’d received. I got so fed up with the breaks in concentration that I packed my gun away and didn’t even bother with the last couple of stands.
When I complained, the refs were very dismissive. I asked for my money back and they basically told me to get lost. Do I have any legal rights in this?
