Haimwood Shooting Ground in Llandrinio raised just over £3,000 for the Wales air ambulance, with a clay shoot, pool and raffle on 7 September.

The event had been postponed since mid-June due to the heavy rain, but on the day, it attracted around 80 entries for the main shoot, which was held over four stands each with four pairs on report followed by two simultaneous pairs.

The event was supported by local businesses, including the Wyvern Garden Machinery, Arthurs Motor Group, and Powys Guns.

Dave Harley took the high gun prize of a weekend’s use of a car, Josh Keeble’s second took home an electric mower, and third, Mike Jones won an air rifle, a scope, and the pool shoot prize of a hedge trimmer.

The ground’s Mark Nixon said that a great team of helpers was on hand to ensure the smooth running of the event. “Their time and goodwill are a major part of what makes Haimwood tick,” he added.

He explains that the ground is open seven days a week, and runs a Sporting competition each weekend, which typically attracts around 50 shooters.
