Shooters from 12 counties descended on Park Farm in Ombersley last week for the Hereford & Worcester Sporting Championship, with generous sponsorship from the Hull Cartridge Company. The competition was well supported, especially by H&W members, the most the county has seen at any Championship.
It was Park Farm’s first registered Sporting shoot with various targets for everyone, but they were testing and unpredictable due to the atrocious weather conditions comprising driving rain and gale force winds.
When scores finally started to come in it was not immediately obvious who was in the lead. Nick Dean, a prominent Trap shooter from Staffordshire was the eventual High Gun on 89ex-100. In second place with 86 was H&W’s own Chris Moule, followed by Clynt Warren from Gloucestershire with 85.
Chris Moule is the H&W County Champion with Phil Smith Runner Up 83. The Veteran title was won by Paul Colley 76. There were few Ladies that entered but the eventual winner was Jane Taylor with 60ex-100. The Junior title was closely fought with 10 individuals hoping for victory but It was Charles Lilwall from Herefordshire that won the day with 66, closely followed by Matt Dyson on 64. In the Colts category, Tom Betts took the title with a score of 59.
