Latest funded athletes announced

Abbey Burton.British Shooting has announced the latest shooters to be awarded a place on the World Class Performance Programme.

Abbey Burton, Aaron Heading, Stevan Walton and Steven Scott are the new names from clay shooting on the list, joining existing athletes Ed Ling, Peter Wilson and Rory Warlow.

The scheme has been in place since 1997, and the recent gold medal of Peter Wilson at London 2012 has left British Shooting in a better position than ever, with more funding, heading into Rio 2016.

The 21 per cent funding increase awarded to British Shooting sees £3million available to fund the Performance Programme – a result of Peter’s performance in London.

Sport England also announced a £1million donation in support of British Shooting’s Whole Sport Plan for 2013-2017, which aims to develop both disability shooting and talent pathways across the shooting disciplines.
