ATA boosts Clay Shooting Classic with sponsorship.

ATA has given the Classic a big boost with six-gun sponsorship worth £6,500.

Entries to the Clay Shooting Classic 2019 have been coming in rapidly since the event was announced, and we’ve already gone well past the point where we can truly call it a growing event.

But we’re not done yet – we’re busy securing yet more prize sponsorship and industry support. The latest shotgun manufacturer to come in with sponsorship is ATA, which – in conjunction with its UK importer, Sportsman Gun Centre – has sponsored all five classes in the main competition with an ATA SP Elegant Gold Sporter, in 12-bore with 30″ barrel and multi-chokes, worth £1,000 each.

That’s not all – they have also provided a very special hand-engraved gun as prize for the overall winner.

So that’s a £6,500 boost to the prize fund on top of the sponsorship from Browning, Pilla and cash prizes already announced.

“We had a meeting with the owner of ATA at the British Shooting Show, and he was eager to sponsor the Classic with our latest model,“ said Gary Lamburn, managing director of Sportsman Gun Centre. “We’re looking forward to the Classic, and will even be bringing a team ourselves to shoot the course.

“If we win the prizes we’ll hand them back, of course! Though, considering the calibre of shooters who generally attend the event, I’m sure there are some who will be able to beat us.”

Who, what, where?

Clay Shooting magazine has teamed up with Steve Lovatt and The Clay Shooting Company to bring you a Classic worthy of the name. It’s at Garlands Shooting Ground from Tuesday 28 May to Sunday 2 June, and it’s going to be awesome.

The disciplines will be spread out over the six days, starting with the 100-bird Fitasc championship from Tuesday to Thursday. The 100-target Sportrap, shot over four layouts, will run from Tuesday to Thursday as well.

Then there’s the big one, the 150-bird Sporting shot over two courses of 75 targets each on the same day. That one runs from Friday to Sunday. The prizegiving for each discipline will be held on the day it concludes – Fitasc and Sportrap on Thursday, Sporting on Sunday.

With Steve Lovatt and The Clay Shooting Company involved, you know the targets are going to be something special. Steve has set many of the big championships in recent years – in 2018 he was behind the clay lines at The Game Fair and the British Open Sporting. Steve has a knack for creating targets that are devilish yet rewarding, and he’s always coming up with new ideas.

How do I enter?

You can book on The Clay Shooting Company website at theclayshootingcompany.com, by phone or text to the numbers in the box on the left, or by post using the form, which you can download from the Clay Shooting website – just head to clay-shooting.com and click ‘Enter the Classic’ from the menu.

As we said earlier, don’t delay if you want to secure a particular squad time. And don’t forget, payment is due on the day of shooting this year, so you won’t even have to pay a penny at the time of entering. What are you waiting for?
