On the Clay Shooting Community Crowd Funding page, the Disabled Shooters Group has successfully raised in excess of £9,000 and Clay Shooting magazine has added the final 10 per cent.
With the extra £1,000 added by Clay Shooting, DSG now has over £10,000 to put toward sending a team to the IPC test events in Germany and Italy later this year, and the figure is still rising.
Nicola Heron has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help raise the funds and said: “We’ve got a few days left, now let us see how much we can smash the target by. When the national governing bodies said: ‘no, we can’t help’, the shooting community came together and said ‘yes we can’. When you have people like the Italian Olympic Trap coach Marcello Dradi pledging €50 to a UK disabled shooting group, that’s when you know we have done something special.”
Part of the money was raised in the final few days on the ShootClay silent auction, which then fed in to Clay Shooting’s Community Crowd Funding website.
This success will hopefully inspire other shooters to launch new projects and help raise the funds they need.
