The Clay Shooting Classic is firmly established as one of the highlights of the clay shooting calendar, with a long history of exciting targets, stiff competition and a terrific atmosphere.

Last year’s event, run by Steve Lovatt at Garlands SG, raised the bar, and this year the Classic moves to the fabulous Orston Shooting Ground in Nottinghamshire – where Dan and Emily Martin and their team are promising to host a memorable competition with plenty of new challenges as they break out beyond the usual boundaries to take in ground that visitors to Orston have never seen before.

This year’s event also sees the return of the Services Day, which is back due to popular demand. There will be a massive prize pot, with generous cash prizes for classes and categories, including Colts, and we’re already in negotiations with some big name sponsors – so watch out for some exciting announcements!

As before the competition will consist of 150 targets, shot over two 75-bird courses. Each course, red and blue, will consist of 11 stands, including a couple of 5-bird ‘singles only’ stands.

Last year’s competition saw a dramatic last-minute victory by Richard Faulds, who shot in one of the last squads and stormed through to win outright, one target ahead of the top shots who had tied on 138 and were already gathering for the anticipated shoot-off for the title.

Who will scoop the coveted trophy this year? That’s anyone’s guess, but whether you’re a top shot or just in it for the sheer fun of shooting, you’ll need to get booked in without delay as places are going to fill up fast.

This year the entries are being taken online at the Orston Shooting Ground website, so get over to www.orston.com and book your place now!
