After a perfect opening round from Abbey Ling and consistently strong performances from Charlotte Kerwood and Kirsty Barr, Britain won team gold to open the ISSF World Championships in Lonato, Italy.
Abbey struggled during her second round and got back on track by the third but it was too late for any individual success, meanwhile Charlotte hit three 23s and Kirsty also finished on 69 to be in with a chance of making the semi-final. Instead, Spain’s Fatima Galvez won the final spot in the top six to join Natalie Rooney from New Zealand, Elena Tkach of Russia, the Australian Laetisha Scanlan, Egypt’s Maggy Ashmawy and North Korea’s Yong Hui Pak.
From there, Fatima hit 12 to lead the semi-final and was joined in the gold-medal shoot-off by Elena Tkach, but the Spaniard won 11-9. Yong Pak won bronze.
