The Syrian crisis has hit Slovenia hard, and the shooting ground in Maribor is hosting 650 refugees – so shooting has been suspended.
This has scuppered Kevin Newton’s plans to manage the venue so the long-time manager is back in the UK and has re-opened part of the old Southern Counties location in the south west under the Dorset Shooting School name.
Kevin has bought new Sporting traps and will host practice 9am to 4pm on Tuesday to Saturday. He said: “The main ground is still shut down, and all the traps had been sold off but I’ve brought in another 14 traps. We’re open from next Tuesday.”
Despite this good news, the ground owner still has plans to set up a solar farm. Kevin said: “He is still planning to put all the solar panels in but I think that will take at least two years.”
