Heroic anniversary for GMK

GMK’s 40th anniversary was made extra special, after the firm teamed up with Beretta to raise £22,000 for Help for Heroes.

GMK commissioned the manufacture of 100 limited edition 687 EELLs, which feature a customised Help for Heroes engraving specially designed by the charity’s founder Bryn Parry OBE.

The cash was raised by GMK and Beretta making a donation for every gun sold and in a silent auction for the first pair and was handed over to the charity at GMK’s anniversary event, held in the Beretta Gallery, London, in October.

The special occasion was attended by Doc. Franco Gussalli Beretta and hosted by the Waktare family and a cheque was handed to Mr Parry in person.

GMK began in 1971 headed by Bjorn Waktare with a team of five people and has grown to an enterprise involving more than 60 staff, with a turnover well in excess of £20million.

Karl Waktare, son of Bjorn and managing director of GMK Ltd, said: “I’m proud to stand here today and celebrate GMK’s 40th anniversary. Over the past 40 years my father and our team of loyal staff have built this business to become what it is today, the UK’s leading shooting sports goods distributor. We now look forward to the future and will continue with hard work and dedication to our customers’ needs.”
