The 15th century house and parkland played host to a gamut of events such as gundog scurries, clay shooting and archery.

Martha Lytton Cobbold, managing director of Knebworth Estates, said: “We’ve had a lot of country shows here before, having held the first one in 1970, but they’ve never been of this magnitude. The whole show was brilliantly put together and we are looking forward to next year already.”

Event organiser Countryman Fairs has a portfolio of seven regional country shows around the country. CEO Ian Harford said: “Clearly Knebworth is a popular venue regionally and attracted a broad range of visitors, some of whom were dedicated fieldsports enthusiasts, but many more were families looking to enjoy a great day out in fabulous surroundings. The feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to making further improvements to the event for 2017.”
