Allen leads dragons to fire in Glasgow

With just over 200 days to go until the Commonwealth Games begin, Team Wales has announced what shooters that will represent the country.

Elena Allen hopes to repeat her podium-level success of recent months, but this time with her Welsh cap on

Elena Allen, who won Skeet bronze at the Peru ISSF world championships in 2013, leads the team alongside husband Malcolm. Both shooters were crowned champions at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in 2010, but they are not the only husband and wife duo to appear in 2014 as Mike and Sarah Wixey, with four Commonwealth and one Olympic appearance between them, will also represent the Welsh nation.

Twins Jenny and Sián Corish will shoot for Wales again having previously competed in Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. Also appearing are gold medallist David Phelps, Gareth Morris and Rhys Price.

Newcomers feature Mike Bamsey, Katie Cowell, Chris Watson, Jonathan Davies and Coral Kennerley.

Team manager John Dallimore said, “We’re sending a really strong team to the Games next year. The balance of age, experience and youth in the team is just right.”
