Almost 200 air cadets from across England and Scotland tried their hand at sporting shooting at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire.
Cadets came from as far away as Scotland and Dorset to have a go at clay pigeon shooting, airgunning and archery.
The nine training days were organised by Britain’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, which also provided the coaching.
BASC’s Alan Booth, who organised the events, said: “Many of these cadets are from urban cadet squadrons and have never fired a shotgun before.
“The response has been fantastic and is proving to be one of the top activities during the week. Cadets from London have also asked their Wing if they can undertake more of the same in their own area.”
Mike Hardy, BASC Council member, said: “This was a great opportunity for cadets to try their hand at clay shooting and archery. Good hand/eye coordination will help the cadets in their future careers.
“Hopefully some of the cadets will take up shooting or archery as the younger generation is our future. Who knows we might have an Olympic or world champion in their midst. Thank you to our sponsors and BASC coaches.”
