It’s now just a few weeks until the Clay Shooting Classic DTL kicks off at Bywell, marking the third consecutive year this powerhouse event has come to ‘the home of DTL’.

Always relied upon to attract huge numbers of Trap shooters – including the very best on the circuit – the Clay Shooting Classic DTL is growing this year, with many events taking place at the same ground on the same weekend and offering no fewer than 600 targets’ worth of shooting across three days.

With the main 200-bird two-day shoot joined by two prelim events, the English and British Opens in Double Rise plus side shoots galore, it’s going to be truly massive. And it’s no surprise that sponsors have flocked to the event, with Beretta donating a shotgun to the Overall High Gun, Cheddite providing cartridges, Laporte laying on traps, and cash prizes throughout the classes and categories (this is one of the few shoots that pays category prize money).

To book your spot, print and fill out this form and send it to Bywell Shooting Ground, Bywell Farm, Felton, Northumberland, NE65 9QQ. You can also call the ground on 01670 787827.

The main Classic DTL is a 200-bird event, shot over two days on 18-19 August. All entrants receive a Bywell goody bag and a box of Cheddite cartridges. There’s a Beretta gun up for grabs for the Overall High Gun, to be crowned on 19 August.

There’s loads to do at Bywell that weekend – the main event is just the start. Things kick off with the 100 DTL prelim event on Friday, and alongside it the 50-pair Double Rise prelim. So that’s 400 targets to be going on with, before you even count the other events taking place. And with main sponsors taking trade stands in front of the clubhouse, there’ll be plenty to keep you occupied when not shooting.

In the last two years, the Classic DTL has already produced its share of unforgettable stories. Kath Bright, then a relatively unheard-of shooter, upset the odds to win a custom shotgun in 2016 – she says this is the win that really launched her career. Then, last year, Paul Turner scored his first ever big individual win, doing it in style with back-to-back 100/300s then a 50/150 in the final.

Will this be the year that one of DTL’s established big names takes the crown? Or will the odds be upset once more? Find out at Bywell on 17-19 August.
