The British Schools & Young Shots Championship will take place at Sporting Targets in Bedfordshire on Saturday 23 April, across three layouts suited to different levels of ability.

Established as the premier national schools competition, the event regularly attracts shooters from as far away as Cornwall and Scotland, and this year students and teams will once again shoot out for top prizes in their respective categories.

Red course

The High Gun prize for the Red course is a brand new Yildiz 20-bore side-by-side as donated by Entwistle Guns. It will go to the top scoring individual out of 50 targets on the toughest layout, but the Red course winner will also win three VIP tickets to the UK Game Fair on 22-24 July and the impressive Clive Stanton Memorial Trophy.

Teams will battle for the perpetual trophy, as well as bragging rights for the next 12 months over what school produces the best shooting talent. There will also be an opportunity to shoot in the Parent-Child category.

Blue course

This 50-bird layout will be less difficult than the Red course but still tough enough to test Blue course individuals and teams, Ladies teams and individuals, Parent-Child squads, Cadets and Scouts.

The top Lady will take home the perpetual Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club Award, a club membership, a gilet and rugby top. Three members of the winning Ladies team will also take home S&CBC memberships, gilets and rugby tops.

There will also be three VIP UK Game Fair tickets presented to the top Lady and the individual High Gun of the Blue course. The top Blue course team will take home the perpetual trophy, and the leading Parent-Child tandem, the Cadets and Scouts will also win trophies.

Shooters under 14 years of age will take on a 32-clay course suited to their ability with a set of three UK Game Fair VIP tickets available for the top individual, plus the coveted BASC Award. There will also be perpetual trophies and prizes for the top Under-14 team of three.

With a prize fund of over £2,500 available, plus the chance to win national prizes while representing your school, entries have been incredibly high so far. There are still spaces available, and you can download the form by clicking here.

Red course – £27 per gun

Blue course – £27 per gun
