Mark Winser and Phill Gray take top honours at the High Tower Challenge

The High Tower Challenge at Sporting Targets is an annual multiple-week competition sponsored by CCI and Hull Cartridges that allows shooters to re-enter as many times as they want. On at least one occasion each, Mark Winser and Phill Gray hit 47 to remain on top the leaderboard by the time the 2015 competition concluded.

The course was spread across two areas: 122 and the Quarry. Stand one warmed you up with a report pair of driven, then shooters went on to two FITASC-style pegs using three mini towers and the 120ft skyscraper. This layout was designed so that shooters could build a score before they tackled the Quarry and most of the best scores came out of the 122 unblemished, or no more than two down.

IMG_9775The Quarry had three FITASC pegs, shooting all targets from the first peg and ending with the card-crushing third peg. The layout used seven targets from the 110ft and the 60ft towers, using standards, a midi, a down-hill standard and a high Chondel from the 110ft.

Close behind Mark and Phill was by Mickey Rouse on 46 and Dave Ferriman and Ed Solomons with 45. Open class was also a joint win for Jamie Harding and Fred Kidd on 44, with Henry Collins and Simon Peacock close behind on 43. Cartridge class had David Mennie and Will Hillier on 41 and Adam Longstaff and John Cordell with 40.
