Giles Dalton has announced a new shooting competition, the Peter Dalton Memorial Trophy shoot, in memory of his father.
The competition is to raise money for junior shooters (16 or younger), a cause very dear to Giles’s heart. After shooting for three years at his local grounds, in Devon and Somerset, Giles found the area incredibly supportive towards junior shooters, and endeavoured to do more to that effect. He confided: “My father, while being a great breadwinner, didn’t go in for supporting myself or my siblings with our hobbies. I wish to make that right and do something to help the Junior shooter.”
In conjunction with two local shoots, Ashley and West Tapps, Giles has put up prize money and a trophy to remember his father, to be held for one year, for the greatest junior shot who competes over 12 months. In hopes of discovering a raw shooting talent and encourage more young people to try shooting, Giles wishes to aid and recognise the most improved young shooter, and enable their advance through the sport. The year-long shoot will be initiated on 6 July, and will take place over a series of shooting days until 14 June 2015, to take place at both Ashley and West Tapps shoots.
Results for the shoots as they occur can be found here.
