Russ Hufton won the English Open Handicap by Distance at Nottingham on 5 August, while Richard Chapple was on target the following day to take the British Open.
Shooting from the AA mark, Hufton had no trouble breaking the longer-distance targets as he let just one fly out of the hundred, finishing on 99/290.
Robert Tucker followed with 96/285, while a 97/283 put Graham Taylor third overall.
With shooters returning on the Sunday for the British Open, Chapple’s 98/287 was just enough for a victory in testing conditions. Just two first-barrels behind him, Lee Wilcoxson and Dave Garrett had to shoot off for runner up after tying on 98/285. It was Lee who stayed the course to the second-prize spot.
