George Digweed, Ben Husthwaite, Mark Marshall, Mark Winser and other top British shooters couldn’t do much about the home-town support Hungary’s András Szerdahelyi received while winning his second consecutive victory at the 48th FITASC Sporting European Championship last week.
Over 4-7 June, András compiled a clean score of 194 to beat a pack of shooters stuck on 193. George Digweed faced two Frenchman, Christophe Auvret and Charles Bardou, and hit another 23ex-25 to claim the Runner Up position while the others finished on 19 each. Christophe hit four targets in sudden death to secure Third Overall.
Cheryl Hall won her seventh Ladies title in a row at the event to beat Inna Alexandrova by two targets and the in-form Brit, Lucy Pitt, by 10. Jake Moore continued to dominate the Juniors field in international FITASC with Josh Bridges, Nathan Skinner and Georgia Moule providing great scores to the British tally.
Veniero Spada topped Steve Brightwell by two targets to win a Veterans category packed with hot-shooting Brits in joint sixth place. But the Super Veterans saw 11 representatives from the UK finish in the top 23, led by Fred Townsend who shot a staggering 183 to beat John Bidwell by nine.
