Highland Deephaven Clay Pigeon Club had a good turnout for the Highland & Islands shoot recently with teams from Benbecula, Orkney, Harris, Skye and Highland Deephaven. On Saturday, for the 100 ABT, the weather was favourable for the eight teams consisting of 40 guns.
The Skye team started out strong and as the day went on it proved a close competition with the team from Orkney putting on the best performance to score 318 points. Closely followed by Deephaven Fyrish and Benbecula, the three teams finished equal second with a score of 316 points.
Day two began with dull and windy weather for the 100 DTL, but shooting wasn’t affected and it produced plenty of red on the scoreboard. Highland Deephaven Novar team put on a good show, Orkney fell away slightly at this point and Benbecula held its own with Donald Walker shooting a fantastic 99/294 for High Gun on the day. Deephaven Fyrish put in a fantastic performance to finish top team in the DTL, second was Benbecula and third was Deephaven Novar.
When all the totals of the two days scores were in, Deephaven Fyrish won overall, with shooters Alex Morrison, Stacy Gennard, Douglas Henderson, Angus Cameron,and Robert Kling,with a total score of 704/1458.
Second place was Benbecula with Robert Taylor, Francis Wallace, Donald Walker, Donald MacInnes and Peter MacLean with a score of 698/1442 .
Third place was Orkney with Raymond Shearer, Alan Clouston, Dennis Stevenson, Craig Smith and Stewart Clouston with a score of 685/1402.
