Last weekend saw the Bredon Festival of Shooting take place, which incorporated the opening round of the Rizzini Classic and the Schools Challenge. There was also a 50-bird Sporting and a Browning Rabbit Mania competition at Bredon School.
Over 120 young shots battled it out on Saturday at the third Schools Challenge event of the year, which saw Bredon School proudly take the Senior Boys category with a score of 202ex-250. Team member Thomas Scott said: “When we first finished we were a bit apprehensive because our main rivals were still due to go out in the afternoon, but when we found out we won it was great.”
The Senior Ladies winners were from Kings High School and the winning Prep team were from Helena Romanes School.
During the Festival of Shooting, Phil Smith shot well to win the Open Sporting and the Rabbit Mania. He earned a Browning shotgun for his success.
At the opening stage of the Rizzini Classic, Chris Childerhouse topped the scoreboard with Steve Walton, Keither Evans, Paul Smith and Linda Grayson also qualifying from this stage.
Edward King of ASI, UK distributors of Rizzini shotguns, said: “We’re very encourage by the amount of people that have arrived over the weekend. The top five shooters from last weekend and subsequent qualifying stages will go through to the final where they can potentially win one of five shotguns.”
Throughout the weekend, over 3,000 visited Bredon School and over 500 people tried the sport for the first time.
