After the closure of the CLA Game Fair, there is a big space left in the countryside calendar, so Wes Stanton – the owner of Clay Shooting, Sporting Rifle, iShoot, Airgun Shooter, The Shooting Show TV and the Airgun Show – has secured a date and venue for a show that could serve as its replacement.

The UK Game Fair will take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, ideally placed in the Midlands with good motorway links to the rest of the country via the M40. Stoneleigh previously played host to the Royal Show, and the on-site exhibition centre now hosts the popular British Shooting Show every February. Also, we can reveal that the organising team behind the UK Game Fair is at the advanced stage of discussions with Stoneleigh Abbey about using its 690-acre site for some key parts of the fieldsports-focused show – and the beautiful 12th-century estate will provide a scenic, historical backdrop to the three-day event.

Clay shooters will find plenty to keep them busy within the show’s walls. With support from massive shooting brands such as Beretta (GMK), Perazzi and Bettinsoli (RUAG), Eley Hawk, Marocchi (Viking Arms), EJ Churchill and William Powell, there should be a packed array of trade stands for shooters to peruse – and organisers confirmed they would install an extensive clay line too.

Mr Stanton said: “It’s felt that the CLA Game Fair began to take its core exhibitors for granted. Gunmakers’ Row should have been a key part of the show, but in recent years we and other exhibitors felt we were being treated more like an inconvenience as opposed to a key component of the show.

“Already we have had overwhelming support. It’s clear from conversations with major brand names and shooting organisations that there is palpable demand for us to get the show on the road.”
