It’s now less than a month until the second Clay Shooting Classic DTL, taking place at Bywell Shooting Ground on 25-27 August.

Set to attract the best DTL shooters in the land, the competition boasts a huge prize pot including a Perazzi shotgun, Mercury Hearing vouchers, cash from Laporte and Clay Shooting magazine, as well as the coveted Classic DTL trophy.

Last year, the competition returned after a long absence and Paul Chaplow was a worthy trophy winner, while Kath Bright went on to win the super shoot-off and the sponsored shotgun prize, a custom-built Perazzi High Tech Elle worth £9,000. Perazzi returns as the headline shotgun sponsor in conjunction with importer RUAG Ammotec, offering a Perazzi shotgun to suit the winner as well as a year’s sponsorship. The winner will be heading to Perazzi HQ to select the gun that works best for them – and the best thing is that the Super Shoot-Off format opens up the chance of winning the gun to far more competitors, so it really could be you.

Massive prize pot

The top shooter from the 200-bird event over Saturday and Sunday is crowned Classic DTL Champion and pockets £1,000. They then enter the Perazzi Super Shoot-Off along with class winners and one representative from the Ladies, Juniors, Veterans or Colts. Scores are reset to zero and it’s 25 clays for the Perazzi, winner takes all. There will also be cash prizes in the classes and categories, as well as a Perazzi watch to each of the Perazzi Super Shoot-Off finalists.

On top of Perazzi’s support and the cash prizes, the Clay Shooting Classic DTL has attracted new sponsors this year, starting with Laporte, who will supply traps for the event as well as host the Laporte Challenge. And in addition to the international trap manufacturer, the Clay Pigeon Company will supply clays, and WeShoot will offer coverage and promotion of the competition across its media platforms.

Mercury Hearing has provided vouchers that can be used on any products in the custom-hearing company’s range, with £1,400 to get your hands on. And Malmo Guns has supplied 5,000 Cheddite cartridges, with a box going to every entrant until stocks run out.

Friday fun

Those who want to take on the two pre-lim events on Friday will be in with a chance of winning the Bywell 400, comprising a £500 cash prize split between the classes.

Friday will also give you the chance to take on the Classic Doubles and the Classic Down The Line competitions, two 100-clay events to give you a taster of the weekend’s action. There will be cash prizes given out to the top three in each class, so be sure to get those booked in early.
