Highland closes winter series on a high

Highland Deephaven Clay Pigeon Club held the concluding shoot of its DTL winter series on Sunday 16 March. This shoot was for The Cameron Trophy, which was kindly sponsored by the Cameron family from Evanton, and strong winds from behind made the targets unpredictable.

In the first 25, Alasdair Sutherland had a 25/71. Sandy Gall, Angus Cameron and John Falconer all managed 25/74, but Kenny Ross was the only one to put a 25/75 on the board.

Alasdair later scored 25/72 and Angus had 25/73. David Hunter hit 25/74, while Catherine Fraser managed a perfect 25/75. Kenny came in with a 24/72 to finish on a 49/147 and Angus ended on 50/147, therfore a shoot-off was required that saw Kenny Ross the overall victory and Angus Cameron taking the Seniors High Gun. Catherine Fraser won the Ladies with 46/137. Sandy Gall won the Veterans on a 49/146 and David Hunter won the Juniors with a commendable 49/146. John Kemp won the Novices with a 43/121.

As this was the concluding shoot of the winter series, it was time to distribute the £500-prize money.

Kenny Ross came out on top to take £100 and High Gun with a score of 855. Seniors was won by Sam Hunter on 846, but equal second were David Morello and Alex Morrison both with a 836. David Hunter hit 840 to win Juniors. Veterans was won by Sandy Gall with a 824, second was Robert Kling with a 815, and Catherine Fraser won Ladies with 821.
