Gold and silver for DSG

Derek Precious and Christ Warner have won gold and silver, respectively, at the fourth Paralympic Clay Target Shooting Grand Prix.

Derek made it to the gold-silver final against Denmark’s Kim Nyby and won with 11 targets to Kim’s nine for the top prize in Standing 2. Elio Spadoni of Italy won bronze by beating his teammate Paolo Bortolin.

Christ shot well to feature in the grand final of the Sitting competition but couldn’t recreate this success against New Zealand’s Anthony Ivan Brogden, who won with 11 to Christ’s two for the Brit to take silver. The bronze-medal shoot-off was another all-Italian affair between Paolo Cirillo and Bruno Busti, which Paolo won 14-8.

Italy made it to the top of the podium in the Standing 1 category behind Giuliano Berlato’s success over Spain’s Jorge Montesdeoca. Another Italian, Giogri Marrozzini finished third.

The Disabled Shooters Group were able to pay for entry to this and a competition in Germany earlier in the year thanks to the support of the clay community on the Clay Shooting Community Crowd Funding page of this website.
