That’s right! Clay Shooting magazine is back in the DTL game on 26-28 August.
After a two-year break from supporting an event in the discipline, there is a new competition to circle in the Trap-shooting calendar: the Clay Shooting Classic DTL.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, one of the country’s best locations for DTL, Bywell Shooting Ground, will host a prelim day and then the main event is on Saturday and Sunday, with the chance to win a brand new Perazzi High Tech worth nearly £9,000.
Friday will give you the chance to shoot 100 DTL as a warm up, plus a 25-pair Double Rise competition, and Clay Shooting magazine is sponsoring these events to the tune of £1,000 in cash – £500 to the High Gun of each event.
On Saturday, the main event will kick off with the first 100 DTL, and another 100 clays will be thrown on Sunday before a final shoot-off determines the best shot in the country.
The Clay Shooting Classic DTL has garnered the support of the elite Italian competition shotgun brand Perazzi, and the UK importer RUAG Ammotec, which adds an air of distinction to proceedings.
Bywell Shooting Ground has hosted world championships, European championships, Home Internationals and other major DTL and ABT competitions for the UK. It has a long history in the discipline with proprietor Allan Henry having represented England in DTL over the years, and his wife Susan and their children Anne and John are a big part of running the ground.
There is a great shop on site packed with stock of big name brands and the ground has caravan and camping space for overnight visitors.
By the time August rolls around there will also be a brand new kitchen and catering service installed that will provide great food throughout the day.
More information will be coming your way via www.clay-shooting.com over the coming weeks and in the next issue of the magazine. But for now, be sure to save the date on 26-28 August 2016 and we’ll see you in Northumberland for the Clay Shooting Classic DTL.
